Gordon Nixon

owner / hairstylist

Being trained as a certified colorist with Goldwell, Redken, Aveda, and L'Oreal allows me to create the most complementary color combinations for my clients. I have also received extensive training in cutting techniques from Bumble and bumble and TiGi. An excellent listener, my consultation and services deliver exactly what you are looking for. I enjoy listening to music, watching movies, and spending time with my family and friends.

Heather Thomas-Slott

hairstylist

I began working in the Triangle after completing cosmetology school (Leon's Beauty Academy) in 2002. In addition to my foundational education and experience, I have had further training from L'Oreal, Goldwell, Aveda, and Bumble and bumble, including cutting and blow-dry styling certificates from Bumble and bumble University in New York. I am very passionate about my industry and I love seeing the finished product. Dry cutting and blow-dry styling are just some of the methods I use to give my clients a look they will be proud of. I am very detail oriented, and through consultations I produce what my clients desire. From beautiful highlights to dimensional color, I aim to please.

When I am away from Citrine I love to spend time with my two boys - and I always make a little extra time to shop! Spending time with my husband, sons, friends, and family is important to me. And I enjoy pampering my sweet dog and a kitten!

I look forward to a bright and beautiful future with you!

Holly Yerton-Hunter

hairstylist

Trained at Leon's Beauty Academy in Greensboro, NC, I have been in the hair industry since 2002. Since then I have become specialized in hair color and highlighting, as well as corrective color. I also love to do short, sassy cuts! I've been trained as a Goldwell certified colorist as well as an Aveda colorist. I've trained at Bumble and bumble University in New York as a certified cutting stylist and also as a blow-dry and finishing stylist.

I incorporate a lot of dry cutting and finishing work into my technique, and I love to play up your cut with beautiful color. My color technique ranges from very natural to funky and trendy. I am a good listener and truly hear what you, as the client, desire in your hair style - my goal is for you to leave my chair feeling great about yourself. Some of the things I enjoy doing outside of work are spending time with my son, husband, and baby daughter, Reese; going to the lake where I enjoy wakeboarding and tubing; and having fun with my family and friends. I also like spending time riding horses, and, of course, I love to shop! I would love to see you at Citrine Salon and give you the best hair you've ever had!

Angie Aiken

hairstylist

My personality and eye for current trends are what give me the ability to design a perfect look for each of my clients. I studied cosmetology at Mitchells Academy in Raleigh and also trained under one of Vidal Sassoon's top educators. My extensive education in color and my versatile cutting techniques allow me to create a wide variety of looks, from the most conservative to the most cutting edge.

When I'm not at Citrine, spending time with my clients, I'm spending time with my wonderful family - my husband, a Chapel Hill firefighter, and my two boys. No matter what we're doing, I'm most content when I'm with them!

April Sawyer

hairstylist

After completing cosmetology school at Leon's Beauty School in 2001 I moved to Chapel Hill. In the last 12 years I have enjoyed working at some of the top salons in the area. I have extensive training in numerous areas including keratin treatments, Redkin and Goldwell color and techniques, cutting and styling from Bumble and Bumble in New York, and styling and up-dos from Aquage.

I enjoy every aspect of working in the hair industry, from being able to socialize with my clients and getting to know them to making the smallest change to a cut or color and it making all the difference. I love that the industry is constantly changing and there are always new ideas and techniques to learn. I will listen to what you want as a client and walk you through what it would take on styling and upkeep to achieve it. Whether it's a super conservative cut and color to the most popular trend that's out, I want you to walk out of the salon feeling amazing.

Robyn F Lindsay

hairstylist

I graduated from the International Institute of Hair Design of Raleigh in 1998. After a decade of working for award winning salons in the Triangle, I have finally found my home at Citrine. I have extensive training from L'Oreal, Goldwell, Aveda, and Bumble and bumble (including cutting and blow-dry styling certificates from Bumble and bumble University in New York). My specialties include highlighting, color, men's haircuts, and cuts for curly hair. However, I enjoy every aspect of hair design.

My work is my passion. There is nothing I love more than to connect with people and make them look and feel their best.

By infusing your personal style with my experience, I will help guide you to a cut and color that best suits your look and lifestyle.

Stephanie Ferguson

hairstylist

I am a senior hair designer of 21 years. During this time, I have had continuous, extensive training in Goldwell, Aveda, Bumble and bumble, Paul Mitchell and Redken. With each new season I love to go to advanced training classes to stay up on the latest trends and techniques. My specialty is color, highlights and haircuts. I am also certified to do Keratin Treatments. I love to get to know my clients to be able to give them a hairstyle that works for them. Anything from subtle to a drastic change, I love a challenge. My priority is to preserve the integrity of the hair. Your hair is the one thing you wear everyday of your life. You might as well love it.

In my free time outside of the salon I love singing, riding bikes, working out and relaxing with friends and family, usually at the beach.

btn

Alexis Moorman

hairstylist

I graduated from Garmon Beauty College, located outside of Atlanta, in 1999. I've fallen in love with the beauty industry and couldn't imagine doing anything else. I enjoy constantly learning new things to grow and evolve as a person and stylist.

I have extensive training in hair color, cut, and style. I am a certified Goldwell Ambassador and Color Expert. I attended advanced color training at the Wella Academy in New York, multiple classes with BioIonic, cutting classes with Toni and Guy, and courses on the Framesi Italian style cutting method.

As a hairstylist, it is a privilege to find solutions to my clients' everyday hair dilemmas. I believe a good consultation is the first step. Identifying problems, gaining an understanding of the clients' desires, and working together to form a plan is essential to form a great stylist/client relationship. Hair is a fashion accessory you wear everyday; I can help you love it.

When I'm not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband, three kids, and three step kids. When we are all together it can be crazy, but I wouldn't change it for the world!

Tiffany Brightman

hairstylist

I moved to New York City from San Francisco in 1995. While working as a production designer on films, I found myself hanging around the hair and makeup trailer in my off time, which inspired me to change course and go to beauty school. After graduating, I apprenticed for two years under some of the top stylists in New York at salons such as Warren-Tricomi, Bumble and Bumble, and Dop Dop. I have also had the privilege of taking extra educational training at the Vidal Sassoon Academy, L'oreal Professionnel, Redken New York, and Mahogany of London. Since 2007, my partner Glen and I have had our own business in New York, specializing in color and cuts.

"If you could do anything to my hair, what would it be?" is a question I am often asked. My answer is always, "Exactly what I am doing." I believe in giving someone the best style to fit their personality, maintenance, and styling needs. I can design things from extremely creative to beautifully classic, blending cut and color to create the most complimentary style for each client.

When I am not working, my other passions include spending time with my twin sons, photography, and cooking.

btn

Lee-Ann Valletta

esthetician

I graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. While living in New York City, I worked as the Director of First Impressions at The Susan Ciminelli Beauty Clinic and through that experience discovered my true passion for skincare and nutrition. I continued my education at Miller-Motte College and received a degree in Esthetics. I was selected by the Academic Committee to be awarded membership to the Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society.

I strongly believe topical products and procedures revitalize the skin and can dramatically reduce the signs of aging. I am certified in advance chemical peels, microdermabrasion and dermaplaning. Being a skincare specialist, I have excellent problem solving skills pertaining to skin health and understand the science behind how and more importantly why the skin reacts as it does.

My favorite thing about being an Esthetician is developing lasting relationships with my clients and helping them see their inner beauty, while delivering result driven treatments for a radiant healthy complexion. On my downtime, I love spending time with my three boys enjoying outdoor activities.

Jessica Cady

salon coordinator

Hi y'all! I am one of the faces you see at the Front Desk at Citrine! I am a Southerner at heart - even though I was born in New York and lived in Connecticut, I spent most of my life in Georgia and consider it my home state. I graduated from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Art History. I am enjoying where I am for now but plan on going back to school to pursue a Master's degree. When I am not at work, I am baking or cooking and planning for my wedding in November. Can't wait to see you or hear from you soon!

btn

Katherine Lloyd

salon coordinator

Originally from Nashville, TN, I grew up all over the world - finally settling in NC for high school, I decided to call the Tarheel state home, and I've been here (mostly) ever since. A Carolina grad with degrees in Art and English, I'm a comedian, artist, and designer with a mind for business and a love of beauty. I'm incredibly inspired by the creative environment here at Citrine, and appreciate the opportunity to meet and serve so many people every day.

If you don't see me here, you can find me in a coffee shop, sketching people; crafting cocktails with my boyfriend; cooking something delicious; working on a new painting; or driving around town with the windows down and the music up.

btn

Karis Foster

salon coordinator

As the newest addition to the Citrine family, I am very excited to be a part of such a wonderful environment with overwhelming talent!

Born and raised in Raleigh, NC, I have a great love and appreciation for this area. Though I am an NC State alumni (having studied Fashion and Textiles), I have thoroughly enjoyed living in Chapel Hill with its small-town feel and plenty of outdoor fun.

When not at Citrine, I'm either running, biking, sewing, digging in my garden, or cuddling with my adorable cat.

Alli Weitzel

hair stylist

I graduated in 2006 from the Aveda Institute in Denver. I accepted an apprenticeship position in an extended yearlong training program at a top rated salon in the area. My continuing studies have included: advanced color placement, corrective color, extensions, and ongoing classes of current trends in cuts and color. If you asked me what I like most about my job, I would have to tell you that I have always had an appreciation for all things beautiful and love working with people. My job allows me to combine both these aspects together. Everyday I have the opportunity to create something with an individual that makes them feel better about themselves; that could involve a dramatic color change or a subtle adjustment to a haircut to better suit their face. Nothing is more beautiful than a client smiling at the end of an appointment!

My ideal day would be hanging out with friends and family on a deserted island with plenty of good food and music, with nothing but time to enjoy the sunshine and each others company.

Shawn Askew

hair stylist

Growing up, I always gravitated toward creative activities ranging from arts and crafts to making pottery to braiding friends' hair. This interest remained an integral part of my life even while earning my Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Spanish at UNC-Chapel Hill. I was constantly doing something crafty in my free time and even convinced a few roommates to let me color their hair!

Upon graduation, it seemed only natural for me to turn this lifelong passion into a career. I completed cosmetology school in 2005 in Charlotte, NC, where I spent the majority of my career working for a high-end boutique salon. In 2012, I challenged myself with an exciting and educational 2 ½ years working in the Washington, DC area as a stylist and operations manager at a top-rated salon.

I have extensive training in cutting and coloring both men's and women's hair from Bumble and bumble, Vidal Sassoon, Goldwell, Redken, Wella and Davines.

I love building long-lasting relationships with my guests. I pride myself on being a good listener and paying close attention to detail. When you feel good and love your hair, I feel I have done my job correctly.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, being active and cheering on my favorite sports teams. I am very excited to be back in my home state of North Carolina.

Chhalin Cuyugan

I began my career as a stylist over 11 years ago when I graduated from Mitchell's Academy in 2003. Experimenting on my family members' hair, I knew from a very young age that styling and color were in my future. I have a passion for color and love making the color come alive on my guests, whether it's through using highlights or creating an intriguing solid tone! I enjoy being able to utilize my creativity to give the guest a one of a kind style that will enhance their beauty and leave them feeling confident in their looks.

In addition to my extensive education, I have been trained as a Paul Mitchell colorist. I am also a trained YUKO Japanese Straightening stylist and have been using this technique for the past two years.

When I'm not working, I enjoy making memories with my family and friends.

I have been working in the beauty and wellness industry all my life. Iíve managed a designer clothing store and cosmetic counter in San Francisco; Iíve studied yoga all over the country and taught yoga both privately and in group settings, and, Iíve and coached men and women how to lead happier, healthier lifestyles. I consider myself a student of life and continue to learn and grow both personally and professionally.

Prior to attending the Aveda Institute in Charlotte 7 years ago for Esthetics I had been a massage therapist for many years. With my roots in cosmetics, I decided to merge my love of skincare and therapeutic touch together becoming duo licensed. My favorite part of my profession has always been seeing the glow on my clients face after their treatment and helping them get results with their skin concerns. My approach tends to be holistic as well as science based.

A native of Charlotte, I moved to the area last summer to be with my fiancť. Outside of work you will find me taking a yoga or barre class; going for a hike out in nature; and discovering all the great restaurants and things to do in the triangle area.

Amber Roten

hair stylist

What can I say about myself? Well first of I am a "nerdy" hairstylist. I completely immerse myself in the science as well as the art of hair. I have to know not only how to do something, I must also know why it works. I can talk in depth about PH scale, growth cycles, and modern technologies of hair. But in the same breath I enjoy the artistic side of hair just as much.

I love shape, color and texture. There is not one thing in hair I specialize in. I like to do them all. However I do find enjoyment in advanced men's cutting/barbering, precision cuts, balayage and creative coloring.

... I also enjoy long walks on the beach.
